In the event of a death, the five consecutive days are to include the date of the funeral and/or must begin within nine (9) calendar days of the death. Serious illness shall be defined as in the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.
Employees shall be granted up to one (1) day in the event of death of an employee’s friend or relative outside the employee’s immediate family as defined above, on good cause shown and for a maximum of two (2) such days per work year. Commencing with the third such request in the same work year, employees may be granted leave for this purpose at the sole discretion of the Superintendent of Schools.
When requesting your days please let your Principal know and submit the days as sick days. Make sure to get paperwork to show as proof and submit to the Board so it can be changed properly.
